Variegated Sweet Chestnut (Castanea)

Similar in most respects to ordinary Sweet Chestnut it has soft yellow edged leaves. It does best on reasonably dry, light soils and is moderately lime tolerant. Sweet Chestnut is long lived but this variegated clone does not offer much in the way of nuts so its interest is all the fine contrasting foliage. A wonderful and relatively rare specimen tree.
